Carbon Monoxide Detector |
 |
|
In the past decade, people have become
more aware of the risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning
in the home. Often called the silent killer, carbon
monoxide is an invisible, odorless, colorless gas
created when fuels (such as gasoline, wood, coal,
natural gas, propane, oil, and methane) burn
incompletely. In the home, heating and cooking equipment
that burn fuel are potential sources of carbon monoxide.
Vehicles or generators running in an attached garage can
also produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. |

Ponderosa VFD Round Up
Internet Telephone
Cannot Use 9-1-1
Voice Over Internet (VoIP) telephone service is the
latest rage – but you cannot use 9-1-1! This situation is similar to when
cell phones could not access 9-1-1, and it took many years to begin
the process of fixing the problem (and it isn’t fixed yet). Our
recommendation is not to purchase VoIP at this time, but if you do, you must
dial our direct emergency number 281-444-FIRE (3473) for emergencies. This
method precludes automatic data bursts of your address and phone number that
hinders our computer aided dispatch. Please consider asking the specific
company if 9-1-1 works with VoIP. Some companies MAY have systems that are
being developed.
Please be sure to use lawn chemicals according to
directions and make certain that you store them away from children. Try not
to store more than one gallon of gasoline in an approved container, and never
store your swimming pool chemicals close to other products. Be sure to NEVER
mix swimming pool chemicals.
